THETFORD
LADIES RUGBY CLUB

Hello Ladies!

The new season will be upon us before we know it so before we get caught up in a mad whirl of activity once more, I have put a few thoughts together having received feedback from those ladies coming up for fitness training. Fitness training with the lads is at 7 pm sharp ready to go on Tuesdays and Thursdays. From August knowing some of us are on holiday, will be looking for the same commitment to training you all showed last year! I have been asked to step in as team captain and Donna will be supporting me as vice; however this is a team game and I want us to manage things as a team too. That means each individual is supportive of each other. We need to provide a good image to encourage recruitment, which is still our most important priority.

The coaching strategy this year will be co-ordinated by myself and we will be looking for specific areas to work on with our club coaches who are all agreed to take these on. Maximum numbers work best as we know and a folder of drills will be available to utilise on some of our standards sessions. These may be led by Mel or I (both level 1 coaches), or anyone of you. All I ask is that whoever is leading the session is treated with the respect any other coach is given.
Our philosophy this year is to work hard and present a ‘professional’ image both at training and at games. Fun of course! But not to the detriment of rugby and the clubs reputation which is gaining increasingly good standing within the town.

We need to up the level this year and most of the time we will be providing a mixed approach to training; backs and forwards to learn each others moves. Good for the team as a whole. Dates for league games are now available and there will be copies given to you soonest. Meanwhile I will try to get some friendly’s up and running. Main training time is Thursday, Sundays for games and occasional Sunday training by arrangement. Other activities that will influence us are the beginning of youth girls training 10-12 noon from Sunday 26th August 2007. This day will be an intro to rugby day and any interested women please let them know too. I would like as many ladies to be there as possible please. Honey is designing a ‘flyer’ for us to advertise this with and Annabel (youth team administrator) is helping with registration. A team meeting will take place after training on 23rd August 2007. Venue is to be the new premier travel Inn – The Warrener -who maybe interested in sponsorship.
