| Dear Player/Member,
Welcome to the new season
of 2007-2008.I’m hoping that the beer hasn’t been too fruitful,
for bellies of the forwards!! And yes backs, its time to break those finger
nails again. As you may know, the AGM took place in the end of May; you
may have noticed that the committee has a lot of new members. The Chairmanship
has been handed over to me and I’m hoping that my job at doing this
role can be as eventful and successful as Mr. Iain Harper’s. I would
like to thank Iain and Debbie Harper for their roles in the club over
the years.
The club had two fantastic seasons for the seniors last year, and I’m
hoping that the 1st XV team will be looking for promotion this season.
I hope the Heathens will look for the top three if not promotion also
this year. Mr. Gordon. Hodgkinson is your new club Captain and he has
a lot of new ideas that I hope will take us forward to many wins and promotion.
Mr. Asher Benion is the new Heathens Captain, even though he is injured,
he still wants an active part of the club. Good luck to both Captains
for the up and coming season.
Both the ladies and youth teams have had another great season, with both
teams producing fantastic games and numbers. Both teams are very up and
coming this year and are hoping that they will finish in the top half
of the tables. We are still looking for players throughout the teams especially
for the new Girls side that we are setting up
We have looked at the subscriptions and registration this year and have
come up with a new idea. We will hold three signing on days, the last
being the pre season party. If you haven’t signed on and haven’t
worked out your subs then you may not be insured to play, so you may not
be able to play. The dates for the sign on are the 5th of August, the
12th of August and the last will be on the 1st of September. The subs
have gone up to £60 this year. If you have any problems with these
please contact me and we can work something out.
We are looking to put on around six social events this year, ranging from
horse nights to live bands and the last being a summer ball. I would like
to see you all at the events, as this is how your club survives the season’s
bills. We are looking at holding the showings of the World Cup at the
club, as you may be well aware that no one is looking at showing it within
the town. Look forward to seeing you there to support England.
We have spoken to Waggie who has said that the website will be updated
on a weekly basis so the information will be there for you. He has asked
if you can look at the forum and be a part of it please.
My final note to you is, The Thetford Rugby Club can’t survive without
you being an active playing member but also it can’t survive if
you are not an active social member too.
Good luck to you on your up and coming season and hope that you achieve
what you are looking for within rugby.
